New Domain Names

Why registering these domain names before October 14th, 2012?

Before, it was impossible to register a domain name under these extensions, except that the domain name is reproduced in Chinese characters.

The Chinese Registry (CNNIC) has changed the rules, and from now on, the registration of domain name under these extensions is opened to all denominations composed of letters, numbers, dashes and the combination of letters and/or numbers and/or dashes and/or Chinese characters.

Nowadays, it will be possible to register the combinations as the following examples: & & cabinet-vidon. 中國
vidon合伙.中国 & vidon合伙.中国

Classically, in order to avoid cybersquatting, the Chinese Registry provides a “sunrise period” for the trademark owners until October 14th, 2012.

For the owner of a registered word mark (Chinese or foreign trademark), which is still in force: We highly recommend to register the domain name reproducing your mark under the extensions « .中国 » and/or « .中國 » BEFORE October 14th, 2012.

NB: Owners of trademark incorporating figurative elements are not concerned by the “sunrise period”.

The CNNIC also provides a second “sunrise period”, which is opened until October 23, 2012, to all the owners of “.cn” domain names reproduced in Latin letters. Do not hesitate to contact us in order to confirm you are qualified for this privileged registration.

During the two successive “sunrise periods”, if more than one applications are made for a domain name, the rule of “first-come, first-served” will apply.
